Sugar Rehab Diary: Day 10

by Brandie

I made it Day 10 complete!

 Literally ecstatic!

I don’t know if I would have ever noticed how much sugar is in so many things like sauces and seasonings! It is usually the first or second ingredient surprisingly. Almost every condiment I own started off with high fructose corn syrup or sugar. I love the effect not eating sugar has on my body, sleep patterns, and energy.

Of course you may think, “sugar?” it makes you hyper! But only for the time being in the long run it drains you, seriously I know. I’ve been there too many times. As much as I miss the taste of soo many desserts I’m thinking they would be too sweet to me now and the negative long term affect isn’t worth it. It doesn’t do anything nutrient wise for your body. It’s like a bad vibe in the sense that all it does is take good energy from you and you don’t want that around.

So I’m going to have to cut out almost all my condiments which does make me a little sad but I will find replacements.

Condiments were like their own food group to me.

But it’s better for me in the long run and I’m happy I made this change in my life. I have been eating a ton of protein and fat like nuts and avocado. I haven’t gained any weight like I thought I would from eating handfuls of nuts. Although nuts and avocados are great fats anything in excess is bad for you. So I’m going to continue to eat both but just within a healthy range.

This will definitely be a lifetime change for me and not just a diet because it has had a positive effect on me. I actually haven’t had sugar all day today (Monday). Monday is the day I could have went back to how I would normally eat. Blindly ignoring the sugar in everything like it was no big deal. I don’t even really want refined sugar so it is safe to say I beat the cravings.

Although I’m not completely in the clear….I was offered a blueberry muffin and struggled to say no. I love blueberry muffins 😞 but it made me sad to see that sugar was the FIRST ingredient 😳 so I politely declined….

I’m going to try to make some dessert recipes using fruit to sweeten  🤔 and see how that comes out so stay tuned for that!

What I ate on my last day!

Breakfast: Mixed nuts.

Lunch: A couple things from the salad bar at Whole Foods. I went in for the hummus and they always get me with the salad bar where I spend $15 more dollars.

Dinner: Roasted potatoes and turkey chops air fried. Have you ever used one before? It fried the turkey chop with minimal oil drizzled on top. And they really came out crunchy almost as crunchy as they would have being deep fried.

-Success!
